This privacy policy sets out how we look after the data you give us.

For our Customers, this Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you make a booking with us.  It also explains what information we collect when you contact us to make an enquiry about our holiday accommodation or sign up for newsletter.

Making an enquiry about a holiday

We need to collect details from you in order to answer your enquiry about our holiday accommodation or the services we offer. The information that we need to hold is likely to include your name, contact details, information about your enquiry and/or booking and any additional information we may need to help meet your specific requirements. We will then use the information you provide to manage your enquiry (or to help us to provide details or other information you may have requested).

Making a booking 

We need to collect details from you in order to make a booking of our accommodation.  The information that we need to hold is likely to include your name, contact details, information about your booking and any additional information we may need to help meet your specific requirements.

The information you provide may be used to enable us to complete your booking.  This information may also be used to provide that booking to you in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.

In order to provide your booking to you we may share your information with credit/debit card companies*.

*Card Payments are processed by Stripe – your card details are not retained by Hillside Huts & Cabins

OUR NEWSLETTER

If you request our email newsletter (while making a booking or as part of a separate enquiry), then the information you provide will be used to send you our newsletter. If you would no longer like to receive our newsletter, then please either unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our newsletter or send an email to info@hillsidehuts.co.uk  and we will remove your personal details from our newsletter mailing list.

Online marketing

We may also use your information to identify other people like you, with similar interests to present our marketing to on Social Media and Google. No information about other individuals identified from these networks is shared with us at any time.

What is not included in our Privacy Policy?

This privacy policy relates to Customers of Hillside Huts & Cabins. It does not relate to employees of Hillside Huts & Cabins, or third parties who we may need to work with to deliver our services (such as accommodation cleaners, handymen and other suppliers).  

This privacy policy does not cover other organisations which we use to advertise our products and services.

Our website also links to websites and social media belonging to other organisations. This privacy policy does not apply to how those other organisations use your data, so please make sure you check their privacy policies before giving them your personal information.

Consent & Contract

Where you give your consent for us to hold and process your data (either by making an enquiry or booking with us or by signing up for our newsletter) then you only need to contact us to inform us to ask us to stop processing your data and/or to delete (to the extent possible) all your personal data (unless we are required by law to keep specific details).

Please note that where you make a booking to stay at one of holiday lets, then we need to retain your information in order to process your booking and as such we won’t be able to delete your personal information until after your stay.

Please note that we may disclose your personal data without your permission to the extent that we are required to do so by law or regulation or in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings, and in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers, debit card numbers, email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

  • Communicate with you;
  • Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and
  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.
  • We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

YOUR RIGHTS

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

DATA RETENTION

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

CHANGES

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
